Editorial: Straight Talk

The early 2007 Trade Shows being held worldwide in some of
the most popular world cities, I thought it would be fun to talk about
mixing a little adventure with our show events.  While at the shows
surely you will want to make the most of your money, time and travel
as though you are on holiday. So take some time for you and your’s,
celebrate, making your time away from home a memorable affair.
We are so lucky that Feb. 12th through 16th in Las Vegas USA
"Apparel Week" comes just in time for Valentine’s Day,
what a party we’re going to have and what happens in Vegas
shouldn’t have to stay in Vegas.    No matter in what city your
Show is being held, take some time off to play.
Go out to dinner and take an extra day or two for sight seeing.
In my opinion these Industry Shows should not only be all about
business but be fun as well, taking home a refreshed attitude.

Our New Reps Directory, many have commented
that a World Directory would be a useful tool because one
can never find that Catalog with the Reps name and contact
information.

The New Year kicks off with the Metropolitan Shoe Show January 2, 2007.
Hoorahs of the New Year in Times Square . The song “Auld Lang Syne
will still be echoing when the Women’s Apparel Market Trade Show
begins Tuesday January 2nd
in New York City .
.
The International Lingerie Show warms up in Miami, Florida
sunshine on January 21st  and as the sun works its way westward,
it comes to Las Vegas on April 16.

With Six shows going on concurrently in Las Vegas February 9th to 16th
including the gigantic Magic Show, WWIN Show, Accessories the Show,
CURVE NV, KIDShow and the Off Price Show,
it appears like the
Fashion Industry shows and conventions are moving Westward Ho,
only 150 years behind the covered wagon, the new Western Gold Rush.
To my understanding, in 2008 or 2009 the Chicago Halloween
Show will be moving to Las Vegas . Then the HCP Show can truly call
itself the Party Show.   Nowhere else can you visit the Eiffel Tower &
the Statue of Liberty, eat at a International Restaurant see the Paris
Follies Berg ere and a Broadway Show all in one day.
.
Speaking of a little bit of trivia, Halloween, the fastest growing holiday
has put $5 Billion into the pockets of retailers in 2006.
.
In observing the shows, I find one thing tasteful, and that is the
fantastic complimentary breakfast, lunches served and cold water
around every corner, hosted by the Specialty Trade Shows, welcoming you
to the WWIN Show. Opening Day they are serving complimentary wine
and cheese at six.
.
On behalf of my Retailer readers I look forward for a generous hospitality
standard throughout the industry. If it wasn’t for a couple of generous
aforementioned industry gentlemen we wouldn’t have a standard from
which to judge a new standard of etiquette.
